Level of Evidence (LOE) Added to Clinical Pharmacology

Clinical Pharmacology, as part of compliance with requirements as a CMS compendium for Oncology Off-Label Use, is now providing additional transparency and information regarding the off-label indications for oncology drugs. Utilizing established evidence-based medicine techniques following the GRADE system., Clinical Pharmacology now provides additional Level of Evidence data that provides background regarding the studies evaluated in regards to the drug’s off-label use.

  • Included as part of the indication data provided in Clinical Pharmacology, users will find:
  • Each off-label use assigned a quality of evidence rating and a strength of recommendation.
  • Recommended/Not Recommended clearly indicated
    • Two strengths of recommendation: Strong and Equivocal/Weak
  • Four (4) quality of evidence levels
    • High
    • Moderate
    • Low
    • Very Low
  • Evidence Summary Table
    • Quick summary of key studies reviewed for the indication
    • Allows for comparison of dosing, patient populations, outcomes and evidence ratings
  • Discussion Section summarizing evidence and recommendations
  • References including summary and any additional references

The above structure was created to support all off-label uses and will expand to additional therapeutic uses.
